The three stars I give to this release is not to the expose itself, but the shabby treatment it’s been given. It looks like the syndicated editions of this exhibit have been customary to produce the DVD, which means all the cliffhanging tags that ended the programs have been omitted. The fresh series usually left you on a cliffhanger trace that was continued from one program into the next, and here, all the episodes demolish nice and cleanly. I don’t survey any reason for this, since you are getting the complete season, after all. It’s a shame that so distinguished material was left off this release (when this is probably the only time it will ever obtain such a deluxe treatment), but I snort it’s better than not having it available at all. I wish Warner Bros. would pay more attention to what they’re leaving out when they release these Hanna Barbera sets. I wasn’t gay about the edited shorts being included on their Tom & Jerry 2-disc position, the syndicated kill credits (instead of the more kindly one from the recent broadcast) conventional on the “Wacky Races” area, and certainly not over this. Even the lamer opening theme is venerable on the Penelope Pitstop episodes. Honest very disappointing, overall.
Penelope Pitstop returns to your TV hide in this DVD release, the third fraction of a trio consisting of WACKY RACES, DASTARDLY AND MUTTLEY IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES and THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP. In the days of their release upon the public, they heralded Hanna-Barbera’s return to gag-laden slapstick comedy that began with such series as YOGI Maintain and HUCKLEBERRY HOUND.

The place is simple: Our semi-hapless heroine Penelope Pitstop, novel from her tenure in WACKY RACES, is heir to a mammoth fortune of millions (which probably enables her to recede the world and have adventures, if this series is any indication) . Unfortunately, her factual guardian Sylvester Sneekly, in his guise of the Hooded Claw, is clear to end Penelope and accept her fortune for himself. Hot on the dart to attend Penelope Pitstop are the Ant-Hill Mob (also from WR) and their trusty car Chugga-Boom, whose desperate attempts to rescue Penelope from the clutches of the Hooded Claw often wind up with the Mob having to be rescued by the strangely resourceful Penelope (who surely must be faded to this sort of thing–after all, she DID urge with Dick Dastardly) .
By today’s standards, this cartoon is dated, predictable and rather lame; however, it’s lame in a contrivance that can be described as unrepentant. It NEVER pretends to be more than it is, and it often manages to retort its enjoy goofiness simply by playing everything deadpan-straight. In this age of grossouts, fart jokes and pretentious self-referencing in cartoons, this is downright refreshing.

The dispute cast features such HB stalwarts as Mel Blanc, Paul Winchell, Don Messick and Janet Waldo, who voices Mlle. Pitstop. Kudos must go to both the ragged Gary Owens as the Narrator, whose breakneck color commentary on the action provides a manic Greek chorus to the proceedings, and the uncredited Paul Lynde as Sylvester Sneekly/Hooded Claw, whose ridiculous Evil-Villain laugh and sarcastic asides on Penelope’s perils mine occasional funny gold within this series. (In a featurette contained within this space, Janet Waldo recounts how Lynde could often crack up the entire cast during recording with a simple three-word-line, using only vocal characterization, timing and inflection.)
There is one glaring flaw in this spot, which has already been mentioned by another reviewer, and is also why I gave it only three stars: each episode begins with annoying syndicated theme music rather than the recent Pitstop theme, which undercuts the enjoyment of the episodes. (The current theme music can peaceful be heard over the closing credits; why the syndicated theme was veteran I do not know. It can only be chalked up to decisions at Warner Bros, the studio who needed to be convinced that people would actually take a JUSTICE LEAGUE box residence.) All in all, TPOPP is an luscious series on the whole, so objective fast-forward through the opening credits and wait for the obliging theme music at the demolish, or wait until this station is re-released properly instead.

Handheld Auto Navigation Products
October 3rd, 2010There are various diverse sorts of auto navigation Techniques. Among the a lot of you may uncover those that come factory installed, individuals which might be attached to the interior of your automobile via the use of suction cups, and still others which might be handheld equipment which can basically be installed by attaching a cord to your cars cigarette lighter. These products don’t provide fairly the functionality and ease of use as some of the other (require I say pricier) kinds of navigational gadgets but you need to not be fooled by features that you may possibly not locate all that beneficial in reality.
I’m a bargain hunter by nature. There actually is nothing I can do to change my thrifty (some may say cheap) nature. I like having nice things but would like to get them even though spending as little funds inside the process as possible. For this reason alone I decided to seriously look at some of the a lot of handheld navigational tools about the market today.
There are several reasons I locate these products appealing. Very first of all, they suit several purposes. Not only are they beneficial when traveling by car (if you buy the appropriate software obviously), they are also really beneficial when taking your travels off road as well. You are able to use them four wheeling in the country, riding horses in wide open spaces, hiking in the hills and mountains, or when getting away by bike for the day. My personal favorite use for these nifty tools however is about the water. I’m a horrible navigator and a mapping handheld GPS is just the thing to keep me on track and on target.
I don’t know about you, but I hate feeling as though I am totally and utterly lost. It is usually a frightening feeling that is only intensified whenever you will discover kids on board during individuals lost moments in time. Only a person who has ever experienced that feeling whilst looking into the eyes of her babies and feeling so alone on top of being so lost can truly understand. There basically aren’t adequate words to describe the deep down inside fear that can take hold in situations for instance this if allowed.
The ideal action to take is proactive. Avoid putting yourself in situations where you’ll feel lost. This certainly, hasn’t always been probable from the past. Having a navigational device on hand at all times can go such a long way towards alleviating that fear and calming any qualms an individual may have about the ought to travel to unfamiliar places at time. Since we must occasionally stray from the world we know, love, and are familiar with it is wonderful to know that you will find devices to help us come across our way in numerous situations.
If you’re trying to find a excellent gift to give nearly any individual on your Christmas list this year, a nice handheld GPS method with mapping capabilities can be a excellent gift to provide. Naturally, you do not definitely must wait until the holidays in order to give a gift just like this-especially if you’re giving it to an individual whose safety is of great importance to you. I think anyone who drives, bikes, boats, floats, hikes, or rows could locate a excellent deal of use for tools including this, particularly females who take pleasure in these activities and occasionally enjoy them alone.
No matter what your particular requires in automobile navigation Systems may well be, there are numerous Systems that could suit them really nicely. Take the time to study what is obtainable and reconcile your desires with your budget so that you can locate the one which will work finest for you. Handheld GPS Methods with mapping abilities offer a highly affordable option along with some surprising additional functions, which will make them appealing in and out of the automobile. Excellent luck in finding the perfect automobile navigation method for you. It’s out there somewhere.

What does it mean to support? This is the right quandry that faces the vampires of the Brotherhood, a accelerate of genetically-engineered beings whose fair duty it is to protect their fellow sentients – mankind.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Perfect Creature! Click Here
This enthralling reworking of the vampire chronicle is dwelling on an Earth similar to our gain, but with some significant differences. The most vital, of course, is the existence of bloodsuckers, who were created by stale science and breeding projects sometime in the early 18th century. At first, these original creatures were hunted by mankind, burned at the stake and slaughtered. However, they eventually merged somehow with the Catholic (or possibly Anglican) Church, to construct a modern religion, one with a main tenet espousing vampires as God’s servants to mankind.
The background of this alternate Earth is a microscopic hazy, and that’s the reason why I subtracted a star (I would’ve liked to know more about this world), but that doesn’t detract from the chronicle, which is a well-kept shrimp story about a female detective in the city of Jamestown (Virginia? Is this a Kingdom of Virginia? Or an uber-British Empire? A queen is mentioned…) who is investigating a series of Jack the Ripper-like killings with the relieve of a vampire ‘priest’, Brother Silas.

I won’t give away area details, because this movie is so noteworthy fun, you unbiased have to examine it yourself and savor! The acting is well-done, with Saffron Burrows (yummy) and Dougray Scott as the leads.
Good special effects (airships!) round out what is a very frosty limited gem of a movie. Why does crap like Transformers collect such wide releases, and awesome flicks like this languish in obscurity? It’s not resplendent, I tells ya…
The search for and the feel of “Perfect Creature” was refreshing. It is seldom that I glimpse a movie, these days, that can earn me feel the characters emotions and draws me into the account so thoroughly. I certainly would like to behold more of Dougray Scott (yummy) to quote someone else. When will a sequel be made?

I am a male and I am not a soccer fan. The last time I played soccer was probably at recess in sixth grade. But I am an athlete, a ample sports fan and an American. For a reason unbeknownst to me, I was watching the 1999 World Cup Final live on TV. I can say without a doubt that, with the exceptions of maybe McGwire’s 62nd and Gibson’s 1988 miracle, it was the most sharp sports moment I have ever witnessed.
In June 2006 I watched “Dare to Dream: The Memoir of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team” on HBO. Since that documentary was not out on DVD, I bought this one. This DVD does not disappoint. It covers the history of the team – from their days of toiling in anonymity through the historic 1999 World Cup bustle, when an entire country rallied unhurried them. I found it engrossing to learn how a group of teenagers (Mia Hamm was 15 when she joined the team in 1987) persevered for so long while getting paid so miniature, all for their admire of their game and each other. It was shipshape to eye the rise of women’s soccer from the first crowds of a few hundred to the 1999 World Cup final game crowd of over 90,000. Several people were interviewed for this DVD, including several team members, the coaches, family members, sports writers and even traditional President Clinton. They all fragment different perspectives on the team which are clean to hear.
This DVD offers insight not only into the team but also into some of its players individually. It was frigid to gawk the bond and cameraderie that existed between them which I am definite had a lot to do with their success.
For me, this DVD was peep opening because I didn’t know a whole lot about the team other than that I respected and enjoyed watching what they did in 1999. I can admit that I don’t often peruse women’s athletics, but I can say that I now have a whole unusual respect for women’s soccer. I’d recommend this DVD to every soccer fan, any sports fan and any patriotic American.
P.S. I’d also recommend getting the “Dare to Dream: The Narrative of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team” DVD when it comes out.
The World at Their Feet is an proper gawk at the Women’s National Team. It goes all the contrivance benefit to 1985 when the team was originally formed through the 99 World Cup. The quality and production values are superior. I am a long time fan of the WNT and have several documentaries and The World at Their Feet offered current insight and a lot of slack the scenes footage and photographs I had not seen elsewhere. I would recommend this for soccer fans, parents with young athletes and anyone fervent in a compelling chronicle.

As a Japanese living in the United Staes, I can say totally, that this film is incredible. There’re some critics says Tom Cruise’s acting and so on, however, this film sucessfully depicts the history of Japan, and people’s used lives and the waste of samurai era.
This is a spectacular movie with sweeping sword actions and it is based on the apt history events in japan, I’ve seen a lot of samurai movies(made in japan for japanese) but i can say this one is Spacious as the other movies, plus this is not usual hollywood movies that awfully depicts samurais and even Yakuzas and brush off the truth.
I can say, however, without Tom Flit, this movie could have also been ample as well. But i would guess that it is because of him, this movie gained more attention among people and so typical americans can gather the conception of what samurai really is and what they really reflect.

so overall i gave this movie 5 stars. I thought to go behold it again.
This film has been compared (a lot) to Dances with Wolves due to the fact that they both part similar themes. A Civil War era soldier who finds himself thrown in the middle of a different culture and ends up embracing it and becoming piece of it.
However, Edward Zwick’s film differs from the Kevin Costner Oscar winner in that the necessary character, Lt. Nathan Algren (Hover) is down on his luck, having become a drunken caricature of his customary self, deeply regretful of his actions, who accepts a job as an instructor for an incipient Japanese army that needs to be prepared to fight against the Samurai.
As he arrives to Tokyo he starts training a useless bunch of would-be soldiers who are sent to fight even if they’re not ready for it. As a result, the newly formed army gets butchered by the battle experienced Samurai. During that battle, Algren fights bravely and kills one of the highest ranking warriors, getting the interest of the renowned Katsumoto, the last huge Samurai leader, who orders him captured and brought to his son’s village as a prisoner.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Last Samurai! Click Here
Once there, Algren’s life is changed forever as he gets to know the accurate lifestyle of the Samurai and their people. They turn out not to be the savages that the Japanese government makes them out to be. After spending winter with them, Algren “changes sides” and joins the Samurai in fighting the Emperor’s army.
The title of the movie tells the final outcome. The Samurai lose the battle. Progress triumphs over tradition. Current over weak. But Algren’s past demons are redeemed by his valiant actions helping the Samurai.
The moral worth of this movie is its view. You can definetely stare where the budget went (other than Cruise’s salary) . A whole village was built and the attention to detail is extraordinary. The costumes are simply improbable, especially the battle armors. The costume designer is Ngila Dickson, who also worked in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Also of explore are the battle scenes, which are breathtaking. Very violent, but not gratuitous, they assist the anecdote very well.
As for the acting, Soar does a ravishing job, and is slowly but consistently becoming a better actor (even if this particular performance was not nominated for an Academy Award), but the movie belongs to Ken Watanabe (who was indeed nominated) as Katsumoto. His presence demands attention. He is the center of every scene he’s in. Koyuki’s performance as Taka, Katsumoto’s sister and Algren’s appreciate interest, should also be noticed.

Well, after WWE has already released anthologies on their other 3 major events…it’s time for the final one in their “Enormous Four” being the Survivor Series. This first Volume is from the early years of the event where the heavy focus was on strickly having imprint team elimination matches with wrestlers teaming together based off approved hatred for others on the opposite team…to the point where there is only one match on here that wasn’t a designate team elimination match. Now withhold in mind that I’m doing my reviews from either the VHS version with the unedited event or a replay I caught off WWE Classics On Inquire.
Buy,Download, Or Stream WWE: Survivor Series Anthology, Vol. 1 – 1987-1991! Click Here
1987 – This is going to be a treat for those who already have this event on video because if you remember, the VHS version was edited down to 2 hours there so here you bag the chunky event. This was historic in many ways as this event marked the first ever Survivor Series and also the fact that this PPV ran on the same night as NWA’s Starrcade event (which caused Starrcade to be bumped off many cable networks) . The main event featured Andre The Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, Rick Grievous vs. Hulk Hogan, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Ken Patera, Bam Bam Bigelow that’s remembered for it not only being the first time Hogan & Andre were in the ring for a match since WrestleMania III but the outstanding performance of Bigelow that puts a notice on the designate he’s gotten as “one of the best ‘big men’ in wrestling.” Also on here is the first ever 20 man brand team elimination match with 5 imprint teams on each team & other matches feature Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, Ricky Steamboat, Brutus Beefcake, Jim Duggan vs. Honky Tonk Man, Hercules, Danny Davis, Ron Bass, Harley Run…and an all womens match featuring teams headed up by Faboulous Moolah & Sensational Sherri. There were only four matches here but each one went around 20 mins. (the mark went almost 40 mins.) and was all quality in their acquire lawful.
1988 – Objective like the 1987 edition, the 1988 edition was also edited down on the VHS (only the ticket team & main event were shown in plump) so this is the first time it’s been released unedited. The main event here was Mega Powers, Hercules, Koko B. Ware, Hillbilly Jim vs. Twin Towers, Ted DiBiase, Haku, Red Rooster in a match that continued so many ongoing feuds (Hogan/Boss Man, Hercules/Dibiase) & storylines at that time (problems between Heenan & Rooster, the continued tease of jealously between Hogan & Savage over Elizabeth) . Also on here was the final WWE appearence of the Dynamite Kid along with the PPV debut of Shawn Michaels in a 10 man mark team elimination match that’s mostly memorable for what happened during the match between Mr. Fuji & Demolition & Powers Of Damage resulting in (to my knowledge) the first double turn in WWE history. Other matches include Rick Obscene & Harley Bustle & Dino Bravo & Mr. Perfect & Andre the Giant vs. Jake Roberts & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan & Tito Santana & Ken Patera & Scott Casey…Ultimate Warrior & Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake & The Blue Blazer & Sam Houston & Jim Brunzell vs. Honky Tonk Man & “Outlaw” Ron Bass & Greg “The Hammer” Valentine & “Risky” Danny Davis & Awful News Brown.
Buy,Download, Or Stream WWE: Survivor Series Anthology, Vol. 1 – 1987-1991! Click Here
1989 – This was a Survivor Series first as this was the first time they started naming the teams. One of the main events was the Hulkamaniacs vs. Million $ Team which was exact disappointing since the match seemed heavily one-sided (even Ventura pointing it out on commentary) and the main showdown that was being built up here between Hogan & Zues being the device it was (or wasn’t, depending on how you want to stare at it) . The other main event was the Ultimate Warriors vs. The Heenan Family that’s more remembered for the backstage memoir with Arn Anderson and, more importantly, Tully Blanchard that ended up seeing Bobby Heenan wrestling here instead of Blanchard…however this was a colossal showcasing of Anderson being the workhorse that older fans remember him for. Other matches include Roddy’s Rowdies vs. Rude’s Brood that was inviting down the commentary where Jesse Ventura kept attempting to say the name of Piper’s team but objective couldn’t net it legal, Dream Team vs. Enforcers that was a solid match, and the King’s Court vs. 4×4′s in another solid match that was highlighted by the interaction with Randy Savage facing off against Bret Hart. The only loyal negative I can say here is that how the monster heels were eliminated in the main events were very disappointing.
1990 – This Survivor Series debuted three fresh ideas into WWE with one turning out to be one of the greatest superstars in the history of the WWE. One unusual opinion WWE introduced here was that the surviving faces of the elimination matches would meet the surviving heels in a “Mountainous Finale Match Of Survival.” Also during this PPV, a astronomical egg that was seen on WWE TV for weeks finally hatched (to the crowd’s boos) to sing the Gooblygooker (Hector Guerrero) . One of the main events here featured The Warriors vs. The Pefect Team which saw the Demolition vs. Legion Of Doom fight that longtime WWE/NWA fans wanted to stare. The other main event was the Hulkamaniacs vs. The Natural Disasters in a solid match. Other matches included the Vipers vs. the Visionaries where history was made as it was the first time an entire team survived, the Alliance vs. Mercenaries in a short one-sided match, and a match with the Dream Team vs. The Million $ Team that had an outstanding battle between Ted Dibiase vs. Bret Hart but more importantly, this PPV featured the dominate debut of The Undertaker. Another effect to accomplish on here is that eventhough Randy Savage didn’t wrestle on the card, he did produce an appearence for an interview.
1991 – The PPV had the nickname “The Gravest Challenge” in reference to the first ever non-elimination match as Hulk Hogan defended the WWF Championship against the then-undefeated Undertaker that saw Ric Flair originate an appearence leading to Taker winning his first WWE Championship. The other main event on here was the Legion Of Doom & Mammoth Boss Man vs. Natural Disasters & I.R.S. which was as edifying as you expected it to be with the bigger record being that after teasing Randy Savage of being reinstated & returning to the ring against Jake Roberts in this match…WWE decided to unprejudiced engage Jake Roberts from this match and beget off their match for the “Tuesday In Texas” PPV reducing both men’s roles on this display to objective having an interview. This event also marked the WWE PPV debut of Ric Flair (pay Exact Cessation attention to what belt he wears to the ring…you’ll accept a chuckle out of it) in the match of the night with Ted DiBiase, Mountie, Warlord vs. Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Virgil that was filled with comedy, brawling, and straight wrestling (with one very comedic moment between Piper & Sherri) that was only harm by how the match ended. Other matches on here include “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter & “El Matador” Tito Santana & “Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich vs. Colonel Mustafa & Hercules & The Berzerker & Skinner that was a one-sides squash with this becoming the second time an entire team survived….and Rockers & Bushwackers vs. Beverly Brothers & Infamous Boys that was all about the continued tease of problems between Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty. This edition of the Survivor Series was is easily the worst edition on this place as this PPV was really unbiased an informercal to promote another PPV that WWE was having less than a week later. The two main attractions that people wanted to glance for this event were nothing more than bait to have you turn into that event & WWF seemed to effect more focus into that “Tuesday In Texas” event than their yearly tradition of Survivor Series because alot of the matches weren’t as safe in quality as the years before with some booking that fair looked insensible in the kill. At least watching this on tape years later, you know what these state twist are & how the event shaped up afterall but this year’s Survivor Series was unprejudiced a dull disappointment.
So overall, if your a heavy fan of the elimination matches then this is the spot for you to check out as the first three years were noble quality while the 1990 edition was solid with some questionable booking when it came to some of the eliminations and the 1991 edition was worn minus the opening elimination match & Taker/Hogan for the WWE Title so I recommend this volume.
Overall, this was a glowing superior location, but I noticed one shrimp change on the 1989 SS area, one that I only noticed because I have the PPV version on VHS from years relieve and sued to notice it all the time, to the point that I nearly memorized some of the commentary. The pre-match interviews with The Outrageous Brood and The Ultimate Warriors are NOT the same ones from the PPV. While I at first notion they were edited, it was distinct they frail different takes from the ones shown 20 years ago – confirming what I judge many of us already knew, that most of the interviews are scripted and pre-taped.

Sir Alec gives a riveting performance as an imprisioned cardinal psychologically tortured into questioning himself and his beliefs circa WWII. Jack Hawkins is the perfect foil to watch and instigate Guinness’ character’s insensible deterioration of mind and spirit. In the process, Hawkins’ character begins to examine his acquire humanity. Deeply keen and beautifully done. A substantial explore into the mind of man and the dance between worthy and horrible.
“The Prisoner” is an underappreciated yet nonetheless reliable and provocative drama revolving around two outstanding British actors Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins. Guinness plays a austere and principled cardinal in an unnamed Eastern European country. His views are apparently not in line with those of the dwelling. He is arrested by the police to be psychologically tortured by interrogator Jack Hawkins. Hawkins must atomize down the determine of the impenetrable Guinness so as to have him renounce his beliefs during a well publicized trial.

The dialogue between the men causes both to query their convictions as the lines between prisoner and interrogator becomes muddled.
The acting by both Hawkins and Guinness is at an extremely high level of professionalism. British character actor, Wilfrid Lawson, playing the jailer also gives a very effectine performance.

Well inspect what is coming this Oct. PATRICK! I have had to glance my Terrible vhs copy for years and though in truth this is no masterpiece of Panic it does have its moments. Patrick begins with abominable Patrick electrocuting his mother and lover and being taken to a hospital for the trauma has left him in a coma. But terrible Patrick has not fair been lying around; quite the contrary, as he’s developed a grand telekinetic ability TO Destroy!!! This is a palatable blatant rip off of CARRIE and despite the handicap of dubbed in accents(no stout deal to lovers of ALL Dismay films) this film builds suspense and SCARES quite well. Gave it only 3 stars for could really have done with out the obligatory CARRIE final jolt ala FRIDAY THE 13TH & objective recently THE STRANGERS…Been done to death

This film is one of the creepiest, most suspenseful films you will ever discover. The “comatose” reviewer below must have been fair that, because he needs to change his bong water. I would defy anyone to witness this movie and not be engrossed. Lovely acting throughout, this isn’t some chessy film by any stretch. If you liked a movie like “Uninteresting Still”, for instance, you’ll like this one.

Whisper of the heart is one of the most sensitive, heartwarming and delicate films ever made. Based on a shojo manga by Aoi Hiiragi, Written and produced by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Yoshifumi Kondo, vow of the heart is a epic of self discovery and coming of age of a high school girl Shizuku who is not distinct what she wants in life. A series of dramatic events bring her closer to a guy Seiji from her bear school. Together they embark on a toddle which will attend them accept their inner potentials, realize their dreams and also treasure for each other. Also featured in the movie is an primitive man who runs an antique shop stocked with astonishing treasures, including a magnificient porcelain figurine “the baron” (also featured in “The cat returns) . Both of these characters play an essential role in the film. Though “The cat returns” is kind of follow up to “voice” yet for some reason it was released on dvd before “assure”.

Rarely is a film as unprejudiced and realistic as direct of the heart and that’s what makes it amazingly special, charming and successful. Within its thin dwelling and realistic settings, allege has its magic moments which are downright uplifting and strike a chord somewhere deep inside. The film itself is a breath of unusual air.
Whisper of the heart, though dumb in creep, draws you in from the very beginning and refuses to let you go. Its a heartwarming narrative which makes you feel nostalgic and helps you relive the adolescence. Except for the Shizuku’s dreamy fantasy sequence, the film relies heavily on dialogues and simple and precise situations. The locales and the backgrounds shown in the film are as glorious and breathtaking as in any other ghibli film. Initiate spaces, stunning countryside, deep blue sky with summer clouds, a bicycle inch atop the hill, there are numerous things and moments in the film that plot the mood objective upright, leaving the viewer spellbound and blissful. After a while you forget completely that you are watching an enchanting film. Music plays an principal role in the film and is soft and relaxing though we do obtain lots of those soundless moments too for which ghibli films are distinguished. Also featured in the film is John Denver’s song “country roads” which makes the perfect backdrop for the film. Not to mention here, the royalty disputes which arised later, making it difficult for the movie to peek an American release.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Whisper of the Heart! Click Here
Be it character development, animation or background art of the film, attention to details is simply glowing. The incredibly detailed backgrounds of the fantasy sequences were done by Naohisa Inoue who was an established artist and a long time Miyazaki fan. Impressed by his fantasy work, Miyazaki himself invited him to work on the film. Impart of the heart dvd released by Buena Vista in Japan includes a special documentary showcasing the dreamy artwork of the film.
Director Yoshifumi Kondo had worked on many ghibli films such as Kiki’s delivery service, Grave of the fireflies and Pom poko etc, as an animator. Hayao Miyazaki, who was looking for original breed of directors for ghibli, recognised Kondo’s talent in no time and gave him a chance to state this movie. Unfortunately, tell of the heart remains to be the first and the only film directed by Yoshifumi Kondo. Unprejudiced after the release of grunt, Kondo succumbed to aneurysm. It is evident from scream of the heart how immensely talented and sensitive director Kondo was.
Films like assert of the heart are very rare and approach once in a lifetime. Watching a film like this is an experience to examine and fancy forever.
This movie, produced by Studio Ghibli (the same company that produces Miyazaki’s movies) is a gem. Unlike all of Miyazaki’s movies, this one tells in a very poetic design a tale about credible young people, their coming of age, and their growing awareness on their dreams and aspirations. It is also a beatiful adore tale between two children who are discovering that they seem to be made for each other.
This is also one of those movies that will remind you of your school years, and I glean astounding the accuracy with which children’s emotions are depicted. Indeed, this is something I really enjoy about most of these Japanese directors: the ability of depicting children for what they are, rather than as cute weak and witty “petite” adults, as powerful of Hollywood instead does.
As in virtually all of Studio Ghibli’s movies, the drawings are pretty, some of them breathtaking, and the characters are lovable and well constructed. One of the major “characters” is a cat that will certainly raze up loving!
If you liked this movie, I would also strongly suggest you to inspect for another two Studio Ghibli movies that section the same genre. One is “Ocean waves” (which centers around the complicated love-hate relation between two high school student), and the other one, which is absolutely incredible, is “Only yesterday”, the fable of a young Tokio woman who rediscovers herself during a vacation in the countryside. I judge both of them (especially the last one) are suitable masterpieces.

Written and directed by Bob Kelljan, who later directed episodes on various 70′s TV shows like Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard, and Charlie’s Angels, Count Yorga, Vampire (1970), aka The Loves of Count Iorga (not a misspelling), did extremely well when it opened.

The movie starts off with a scene of a ample cargo ship sitting at a dock off some California waft, and a vast, coffin shaped crate being loaded on a truck. As the truck drives away, we are treated to jabber over that sounds like a mix between Ricardo Montalban and Harvey Fierstein talking about the vampire mythos. The truck continues until it comes to a secluded driveway with a titanic gate. Next we go to a séance in progress, being conducted by Count Yorga, who, if you’re familiar with the title of the movie, is a vampire. He ends up secretly putting the whammy on one of the women demonstrate, and then gets a skedaddle home from a couple in their VW minibus…I have to say, it was kind of comic seeing this young couple and the aristocratic Eastern European (we learn that the Count came to America from Bulgaria) and very sophisticated Count crammed into the front bench seat of a minibus. Anyway, the couple drops the Count off after declining his offer to reach into his home, and they rep stuck in some mud along the Count’s long driveway. This starts a five-minute discussion about mud. Where did the mud arrive from? How did we miss it arrive in? How near the rest of the ground is dry? Blah, blah, blah…it’s scenes like this that really dragged this movie down. I guess, among the Count’s other supernatural powers, creating wind and lighting, manipulating objects with his mind, mind control over animals and humans, spruce natural strength, he can also fabricate mud. After hearing a wolf howl, the couple decides not to scramble help to the Count’s house but to expend the night in the minibus, and after a limited lovin’ in the abet of the van, they are soon visited by a dismal stranger (two guesses who) . As the movie progresses, the Count takes a couple of women (Count Yorga needs women!) in the blueprint vampires do, and the men open to suspect something is sinister, and whatever it is, it’s directly linked to Count Yorga. They launch throwing around the theory of vampirism, with some willing to have once offered proof, while others refuse to earn even the possibility as they contemplate the conception is purely a work of fiction. After great goofy dialogue, two of the men choose to acquire matters into their absorb hands and try to sneak into the castle and convince themselves that Count Yorga is a vampire. They steal along a female character, as they dread to leave her alone (tall opinion, bewitch her into the lair of a suspected vampire) . If they are able to confirm that Count Yorga is a vampire, they intend to demolish him, and their friends who have been turned, as there is no cure for bloodsucking other than a wooden stake in the heart…the last twenty minutes or so things the hasten picks up fine well, as the two men confront Count Yorga and his brides from hell. And how could I write a review about this movie without mentioning Brudah, the Count’s mostly still, brutish servant? Oh man, he is honorable for a few laughs…he walks around the entire movie looking like a transported cavemen in a dreadful sport coat and tie. I kept injecting my possess lines for bad Brudah when he had none…I imagined when he spoke, each sentence would be preceded by his occupy name…”Brudah want woman”…”Brudah drive car”…”Brudah need shave”….
The dialog throughout the movie is rather clunky but oddly realistic at times. The actor playing Count Yorga, Robert Quarry, was the highlight of the movie, really getting into the section creating a truly believable and scary character. I vaguely recognized him, but then remembered seeing him in Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972) . The direction was passable, but got annoying at times, especially during scenes with conversation, as the director would acquire many needless cuts support and forth between characters, sometimes showing the aid of a character who was speaking… there was some blood and one scene in particular, with a cat, that was glorious unsightly. The one actor most will probably watch in this film is Michael Murphy, who played the mayor in Batman Returns (1992) and has been in a few Woody Allen movies like Manhattan (1979) and The Front (1976) . The scares were mostly of the cheap kind, things popping out at the viewer accompanied by a loud sound attain or startling music. The film has a 90-minute accelerate time, but I view some trimming would have been useful, and would have quickened the dart.

The presentation on this disc looks really grand, and special features include a trailer for the film and a spruce reproduction of the fresh movie poster on a diminutive card on the inside of the case. Age hasn’t been kind to this movie, as the dating is very apparent in the wardrobe and hairstyles of the various actors, but I reflect the movie is worth looking into if you are a alarm movie fan, mainly for Quarry’s performance. A sequel was released a couple of years later titled The Return of Count Yorga (1972) .

It was no secret in the early 1970′s that American International Pictures were grooming Robert Quarry to capture over the mantle of their number one anxiety star, from the ageing Vincent Brand. Label was none too delighted about the treatment he received from studio executive’s and made his feelings felt on several occasions. One well known record has it that during the filming of “Dr Phibes Rises Again”, Imprint heard someone singing Gershwin and looked around the corner to peer Quarry in tubby declare. Quarry turned to Ticket and remarked “Vincent, you didn’t know I was a singer!”. To which Brand replied “Well, I knew you weren’t a ******* actor.”

However, Quarry did perform a magnificent decent vampire on three occasions in “Count Yorga”, “The Return of Count Yorga”, and the lesser known “Deathmaster”….all films being made virtually serve to aid! “Count Yorga” started out as a belief from writer / director Bob Kelljan to accomplish a soft porn style vampire film, however when he recruited Robert Quarry to play the lead, Quarry convinced him to play it straight for thrills. Keeping in line with the unusual age, hippie influenced culture of the 1970′s, the film sees Count Yorga posing as a psychic medium and leading unsuspecting & naïve guests into his vampire clutches! The film saw a departure from the more Hammer influenced style of vampire movie where the female underlings to Christopher Lee were buxom, lovely women. In “Count Yorga” however, the female servants of Yorga are haggard, disheveled harpies from the grave that mercilessly carry out the wrong biddings of their master. Additionally, the film was noticeably more violent than Hammer’s Dracula series, and shifting vampires to a contemporary setting ( as opposed to Hammer’s Carpathian Mountains of the 1900′s ) became the standard for vampire film’s for many years to arrive, and definitely revitalized the declining movie fan’s interest in blood suckers.
Kelljan does a fine suitable job of keeping the status ticking along, and Quarry does provide some solid scares….especially the shots of him bearing down on his victims in boring motion, arms outstretched and fangs bared. Well worth a view, “Count Yorga” is an engrossing fraction of vampire cinema that provided the genre with distinguished needed modern blood.
